Why You Shouldn’t Use a Free VPN

We all love getting our hands on some free stuff if it means that we don’t have to pay money up front or as a subscription but sometimes, free stuff is not always going to be able to cut it. This is especially the case when it comes to VPN providers.

The whole point of a VP provider is that you want to be able to use the internet more privately. This means that you have to be able to have full trust in your VPN provider that they are going to be providing you with the privacy that you’re after.

Put it this way, since you’re not paying any money to use their service which includes their network of servers, how are they making their money to pay for them? Sure, they may have full subscribers that will go some way to off-setting a portion of their free users but we can guarantee that it won’t always be enough.

For all you know, these VPNs may be selling your personal information, downloading viruses onto your computer, or less annoyingly, throwing ads your way. They might not be doing any of these things either but you’re going to trust a paid service to not be doing this over a free one that is for sure.

Free VPNAre All Free VPNs Not to Be Trusted?

We’re not saying that at all as we do know of some legitimate free VPNs that are worth a look. However, we would still recommend signing up for a subscription with these to give you even more peace of mind. You’ll also get better features, more bandwidth, and access to more servers worldwide.

Let’s say we were in Italy and needed a free VPN, which migliori VPN gratis (as the Italians would say) would we recommend? Well, there are two free VPNs that we have complete trust in and they are:

1. Tunnel bear

Tunnel bear is a good little VPN and certainly worth paying for as it is more than affordable. That said, it does have a free version that will give you 500mb of free data each month to use as you wish.

Obviously, that’s not a great amount and the 12 servers you have access to be not really a very high number. For simple tasks and minimal usage however, we certainly recommend giving it a go.

Free VPN2. Wind scribe

Wind scribe is another that we have no problem suggesting to our readers. Here you will be given a whopping 8 GB of data a month and while the number of servers is again limited to less than ten, you should still get plenty of value out of it.

As with Tunnel bear though, we still suggest you look into paying the few dollars it will cost you each month to get hold of the full wealth of features available.

Conclusion

There are many reasons why you might want to use a VPN but most of the time it will be about privacy. Using our Italian example once again, VPN gratis Italia or a free Italian VPN is great if you want to watch geo-restricted content in the country but it will certainly not be the best bet when you want to keep your torrent downloading private.
