Options abound for curl making, so take your pick (whatever works best for your hair type/texture and styling abilities, naturally) from round brush, curling iron, or hot rollers. If you use hot rollers, choose jumbo sized curlers, don’t leave them in too long (resulting in pageant hair), and only wind them to just below your ears (so the top part of your hair stays smooth). The same applies to curling irons; only curl to the earlobes and use a big barrel, like Tigi Bed Head’s Tourmaline Nano-Ceramic Styling Iron (from $25). A round brush plus blow dryer will give you softer curls; so,don’t be concerned about the above-mentioned over-volumizing. We suggest holding the brush horizontally when drying each section into a curl, and then shift the brush to a vertical position to unwind the curl.
